In July 2014 there are 395 million scheduled global airline seats. This is an increase of 15.7 million, or 4% compared to July 2013. Flights have risen to 2.9 million, an increase of 2% compared to last July.

It is early days for social media as a B2C tool. businesses cannot help but seek to tap into what may prove to be a lucrative flow. low cost airlines tend to be the innovators in this area, but many full service airlines have strongly bought into the Social Media sites too.

Air China is cutting its international capacity owing to the market downturn but will not go so far as to defer any aircraft deliveries this year, MD Lou Yongfeng told ATWOnline at this week's IATA annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
